The term teleios carries profound significance as a guide toward achieving a life purpose aligned with God's original design. The objective of this research is to theologically and contextually analyze the meaning of teleios in the New Testament and its implications for Christian living. The findings reveal that the concept of teleios emphasizes that the Christian life of faith is a dynamic process of growth. Believers are called to mature in spiritual maturity and completeness, enabling them to fulfill divine purposes, live in unity with Christ, and become effective witnesses to the world. Achieving the fullness of life as designed by God requires commitment, perseverance, and complete dependence on God.
Hendrikson Febri Copyright (c) 2025 Hendrikson Febri https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/415 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Traces of Blessing and Birthright: Revealing the Narrative of Jacob and Esau in a Fresh Perspective http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/448
This study aims to rediscover the classic narrative of Jacob and Esau in the Book of Genesis, focusing on the concepts of blessing and birthright and their theological and cultural significance. It examines these concepts fresh, considering their deeper spiritual, social, and historical dimensions. Through a critical historical hermeneutic approach and comprehensive textual analysis, this research examines how the relationship between Jacob and Esau reflects personal tensions and reveals the broader dynamics of blessing and birthright within the cultural context of ancient Israel. Ultimately, this study offers a new perspective on the long-standing narrative, providing richer insights into the theological and social implications of the story of Jacob and Esau, particularly concerning the themes of blessing and birthright.
Julius Stefanus Sibagariang Copyright (c) 2025 Julius Stefanus Sibagariang https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/448 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Restoration as Evidence of YHWH's Power: Classification of Divine Statements for the Phrase "Day of the Lord" According to Joel 2:31, Zechariah 14:1, Malachi 4:5 http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/456
This study aims to explore intertextually the true meaning of the phrase "the day of the LORD" according to Joel 2:31; Zechariah 14:1 and Malachi 4:5. Some studies emphasize different meanings such as miracles that serve as signs, the day of judgment, the day of Jesus' life, and the second coming of Jesus. It also includes a day of remembrance to sinful mankind. The diverse interpretations of the phrase "day of the LORD" in the Old Testament create a significant research gap. This condition is caused by the absence of researchers who look directly at the three books from the point of view of the alignment of the phrase "day of the LORD". The method used is the hermeneutic approach of prophetic literature. Thus this paper finds the meaning of the phrase "the day of the LORD" according to Joel 2:31; Zechariah 14:1; Malachi 4:5, based on the classification of divine utterances by prophets there are parallels in meaning that emphasize a special day in the future as a marker of important future events that show the power of YHWH (the LORD) as the only ruler of the universe to provide deliverance and restoration to His people.
Andris Kiamani, Farel Yosua Sualang Copyright (c) 2025 Andris Kiamani, Farel Yosua Sualang https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/456 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Incognito's Dialogue on The Messiah's Suffering on The Way to Emmaus http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/458
Christ's suffering and tribulation are an important aspect of the Christian faith, yet there are still many believers who do not understand it biblically This is reflected in the narrative of the journey of two disciples of Jesus to Emmaus, where they were confused about the meaning of the Messiah's suffering on the way to Emmaus. This article aims to explain the relevance of Christ's suffering and tribulation that can be an inspiration to the church, showing that the call to be a follower of Christ is inseparable from the possibility of facing suffering. Christians are called to remain steadfast in the faith and also to bear active witness to Christ's work in the world, even in these difficult situations. The method used in this study is theological study. The results of the study show that the doubts of the two disciples of Jesus were resolved when Jesus appeared in their midst and explained His identity and mission as the Messiah who must suffer for the salvation of mankind. That Christ's suffering was not for His own sake, but for the redemption of sinners, that they might be reconciled to the eternal God.
Sostenis Nggebu Copyright (c) 2025 Sostenis Nggebu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/458 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Philosophical Theological Analysis of Stone Jumping Culture In Nias http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/454
Culture is a characteristic that expresses the local identity of an area. The research is motivated by the phenomenon that Christian communities often find themselves trapped between two extremes. On one hand, there are churches that tend to be rational and focus on worldly aspects, human organization, economics, administration, and tradition, thereby neglecting the spiritual concerns of the congregation. On the other hand, there are churches that prioritize liturgy, emotional satisfaction, and individual experiences, but abandon rigorous theological thinking and biblical teaching. From these two extremes, ST finds a third way, namely, a church that seriously studies biblical truth while carrying out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. This evangelistic effort must combine theology and evangelism, which is referred to as the reformed evangelical movement. This book is presented to provide the Christian congregation with a correct understanding of the theology of evangelism. The fundamental questions posed by ST are: what is evangelism? Who is eligible to go evangelizing? The conclusions of this research are: (1) Evangelism is the proclamation of the good news of Christ's redemption as the core of Christian faith to all humanity. (2) Those who have experienced salvation from God in Jesus Christ and are eager to share what they know with others, have a strong commitment to learn about the theology of evangelism, and are willing to go evangelizing.
Arthur Aritonang Copyright (c) 2025 Arthur Aritonang https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 http://journal.stbi.ac.id/index.php/PSC/article/view/406 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0700
